Biography

Zoe Ralph is Programme Lead for the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) programme and a Lecturer in Children and Young People’s Nursing at the º£½ÇÂÒÂ×. She brings over 25 years of experience as a Children and Young People’s Nurse and Health Visitor, with a career spanning clinical practice, safeguarding, leadership, and professional education across the NHS.

Zoe has held a range of roles within CYP nursing, Health Visiting, safeguarding services, and operational leadership. She is recognised for her collaborative leadership style, her safeguarding expertise, and her commitment to improving outcomes for children, young people, and families through evidence‑based practice and high‑quality education.

In 2015, Zoe was awarded the title of Fellow of the Institute of Health Visiting, acknowledging her significant contribution to public health nursing and her influence on national practice development.

Zoe has contributed to several national and regional projects, including work with the Professional Record Standards Body and NHS Digital, and she has served as an Expert Panellist for BabyCentre, supporting the development of parent‑facing content. She has also authored evidence‑based infant feeding resources for the NHS website, covering breastfeeding, breastfeeding challenges, and formula feeding.

Her interest in digital innovation led to the co‑development of a transfer‑of‑records process within Stockport Family, implemented across Start Well and School Nursing teams. This work was presented at the CPHVA Conference (2017), highlighting the use of EMIS Community to support seamless transfer of care between services.

Zoe has also led on the implementation and quality assurance of Early Help processes, supporting practitioners acting as lead professionals for families requiring coordinated support.

Zoe contributes to the wider profession as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Child and Family Health Care and as a mentor for the Institute of Health Visiting Leadership Programme. In June 2025, she secured the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative Certificate of Commitment for the SCPHN Health Visiting programme, reflecting her dedication to high‑quality, family‑centred education.

Her work continues to focus on strengthening professional practice, developing the future public health nursing workforce, and ensuring that children, young people, and families receive the highest standard of care.
