Areas of Research
John Hodson uses a qualitative multi-method approach to construct a dialogue between anonymous and identifiable LGBTQ men on dating apps, whilst tracing how governances external from the user-user relationship can complicate this.
He also holds an interest in innovating established research methods, and contributing to developing inclusive language for queer participants in research studies.
John Hodson has taught at the University of East Anglia on their 'We're here, we're queer: Global sexualities and contemporary queer cultures' module and; 'LGBT and beyond: Sexual cultures, queer identities, and the politics of desire.
He contributed to designing content surrounding how health sciences use language in ways that generate ontological biases, such as 'risk', ultimately introducing undergraduate students into critiquing scholarship in academic tones.
He has received his Advanced Higher Education Associate Fellowship.
