School of Arts and Media win big at the RTS Student Awards
Graduates and current students from the School of Arts and Media picked-up FIVE of the 16 nominations at last night鈥檚 Royal Television Society North-West Student Awards.
The University was a heavyweight among the categories this year, being shortlisted across 10 categories. Outstandingly, 海角乱伦 talent secured all three places on the shortlist for best News programme.
Among the celebrating students were BBC Breakfast Presenter Sally Nugent and Actress and Business Woman Catherine Tyldesley.
Catherine offered words of advice to the students on the competitive nature of television: 鈥淚f you鈥檙e in the industry you have to deal with rejection.
鈥淚鈥檓 a glass half full type of person, and for whatever reason I don鈥檛 get a job, it鈥檚 for a reason. Eventually, God willing, something will click, and you鈥檒l be okay. Just keep going and never give up.!
Beth Hewitt, Creative Director 鈥 Media City Directorate said: 鈥淭his is a phenomenal achievement for the School of Arts and Media.鈥
She added: 鈥淭hese triumphant wins are off the back of an exceptional number of nominations across the prestigious awards.鈥
鈥淚t鈥檚 evenings like the RTS North-West Student Awards which highlight the future-thinking skills which the School of Arts and Media are equipping fresh talent with.鈥

Pien Meulensteen, Best News: A Roof Over Our Heads
Owen Siry, Aaron Smyth Wallace, Charlie Brookes, Lewis Evers, Sam Davies and Harriet Buckley, Best Drama: Fantopia
Dillon James, Best Factual: Farm or Flight
Victoria Barrera Howarth, Best Camera: Dead of Night
