鈥淓ye-opening鈥 inaugural netnography conference examines online communities, AI and immersive tech
Welcoming 120 attendees from more than 25 countries over three days, the first-of-its-kind conference, held at the 海角乱伦, has been hailed as a huge success.

The inaugural was designed as a meeting of minds, dedicated to the theme of 鈥淏uilding Bridges鈥.
Since its initial development in 1995, by Professor Robert V. Kozinets, netnography, a research method used to study online communities and cultures, has become one of the most popular ways to gain qualitative insights across the social sciences, in health communication, education, nursing, medicine, marketing, consumer research, communication, human geography, political science, sociology, and more鈥攁s well as in applied business settings.
The conference was chaired by Professor Kozinets, adding an invaluable dimension to the event.
NETNOCON23 provided attendees with an unprecedented international forum for sharing knowledge, best practice and results. Across the three days, there were opportunities to network, build contacts, and get practical tips on the fundamentals of netnography and how it can be applied to different disciplines.
Dr Cristina Vasilica, Reader in Digital Health and Head of Digital Engagement at the 海角乱伦鈥檚 School of Health and Society, who organised the event, said: 鈥淚t was a true privilege to be part of the organizing committee for the inaugural International Netnography Conference (NETNOCON23) hosted at the 海角乱伦.
鈥淣ETNOCON23 aimed to build bridges and foster connections within the global netnography community. It was evident that 'Netnography' as a method successfully brought together diverse disciplines, creating opportunities for learning, future collaborations, and the emergence of a vibrant community of netnographers.鈥
NETNOCON24 will be hosted in Milan, Italy at the Universit脿 Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, between 29-31 May 2024.
