Overview
Digital technologies are transforming the way health and social care is delivered, particularly within community and home‑based services. This Level 7 module is designed for healthcare professionals who want to confidently and compassionately integrate technology into everyday practice to improve outcomes for individuals and communities.
The module explores a wide range of digital tools currently used across health and social care, while placing strong emphasis on compassionate, person‑centred application. You will examine how technology can be used to enhance relationships, support prevention, promote independence, and enable self‑care, rather than replace human connection. Central to the module is the critical consideration of equity, ethics, inclusion, and digital accessibility.
Through engagement with current research, policy, and real‑world practice examples, you will develop advanced skills in critical analysis, synthesis, and professional discussion relating to digital innovation in care delivery. Learning is directly applicable to community and integrated care contexts, enabling you to translate theory into practice with confidence.
This module is ideal for practitioners seeking to future‑proof their practice, enhance service delivery, and play an active role in shaping compassionate digital care within modern health and social care systems.
You will:
- Confidently use digital technology to enhance care delivery while maintaining compassion, empathy, and person‑centred values.
- Work in community, primary, or integrated care settings and want to support prevention, independence, and self‑care through digital solutions.
- Develop critical insight into digital health innovation, including how technology impacts individuals, services, and health inequalities.
- Strengthen your ability to evaluate research, policy, and evidence related to digital and integrated care at Level 7.
- Apply technology ethically and inclusively, recognising issues of accessibility, digital exclusion, and informed consent.
- Future‑proof your professional practice and contribute confidently to the design and delivery of compassionate digital health and social care services.

Modules
This Level 7 module focuses on the effective and ethical use of digital technology to enhance health and social care delivery, with a particular emphasis on community and integrated care settings. As technology becomes increasingly embedded in everyday practice, the module supports professionals to apply digital solutions in ways that remain person‑centred, compassionate, and inclusive.
You will explore a range of contemporary digital technologies used across health and social care, including those that support prevention, independent living, self‑management, and remote care. Equal attention is given to the human, ethical, and relational dimensions of digital care, such as equity of access, digital exclusion, consent, and maintaining therapeutic relationships.
The module is underpinned by current research, policy, and evidence, enabling you to critically analyse and evaluate the impact of digital innovation on individuals, services, and systems. Learning activities encourage synthesis of theory and practice, supporting you to apply digital approaches confidently within your own professional context.
