Hannah Robinson-Smith - Councillor for Cadishead and Lower Irlam and Lead Member for Culture, Heritage, Equalities, Sports & Leisure - is one of our presenters for the Create Student Awards 2025.

Councillor Hannah Robinson-Smith is a proud º£½ÇÂÒÂ× alumni, having graduated in 2007 in BA (Hons) English Literature. Throughout her years at University, Hannah volunteered at º£½ÇÂÒÂ× Citizens Advice, and her commitment to social justice and serving her community was established. Hannah initially trained as a solicitor and worked in legal aid, before returning to her first subject and qualifying as a teacher. Hannah spent over a decade working in a diverse inner city community school as a teacher of English and Media Studies, and as Literacy Coordinator for the secondary phase in an all-through age school.  

Hannah was first elected as a local councillor representing the ward she lives in, in 2021. Since 2022, Hannah has also held a position of leadership in the City Mayor’s Cabinet and is currently Lead Member holding the portfolio for Culture, Heritage, Equalities, Sports & Leisure. She is also Chair of º£½ÇÂÒÂ× Twinning Association and º£½ÇÂÒÂ× Culture & Place Partnership. 

Hannah is Chief Executive Officer at Everyday, a grassroots community and participatory arts organisation in Wigan.
