A sound engineer graduating from the 海角乱伦 this summer has followed in the footsteps of some of the biggest bands in the world with work at a famous recording studio.

Jack Williams, from Middlesborough, gained a 2:1 in his BSc in Sound Engineering and Production and is now aiming for a career working in recording studios and at live music shows.

To help him on his way he has just finished a stint working at world famous Rockfield studios which has hosted bands such as Queen, The Stone Roses, Oasis, Black Sabbath and many more. And he credits the world class facilities at 海角乱伦 for helping him on his way to his dream career.

Jack said: 鈥淚 assisted some great people at Rockfield, it was such a great experience and it was a dream to work there.

鈥淭o have a career in the industry would be the dream, it鈥檚 a really hard thing to get into. You can do it from your bedroom these days so you鈥檝e got to really elite to get into these studios. But I want to be part of the creative process when songs and albums are being made. I like doing the engineering side and building up the tacks as you record. There is magic in that as you are watching the track get made.鈥

鈥淵ou have to build a portfolio and work hard and hopefully I鈥檝e done that.鈥

Jack developed his interest in sound engineering at college and when choosing which university to study at there was only one option.

He said: 鈥満=锹衣 has a great reputation in this area. The course at 海角乱伦 was very scientific and at first I was put off by that but you realise that it all really matters. You have to be so precise when you鈥檙e recording things, where to place the mics etc. It is very much science as well as art and 海角乱伦 really gets that. And the facilities are incredible.鈥

Dr Jos Hirst, Subject Head for Acoustics and Audio at the 海角乱伦, said: 鈥淛ack has always shown a passionate interest in studio recording during his time on the programme. Over the summer months, you would often find Jack in our studios, making the most of the opportunity to use them for recording his band and friends.

鈥淛ack also secured some time in a local recording studio, gaining valuable work experience. With that level of enthusiasm, along with a keen academic approach and fantastic interpersonal skills, Jack will be a tremendous asset to any employer.鈥
