His Royal Highness, Prince Edward, The Earl of Wessex KG GCVO, was greeted by the Chair of the charity, Martin Keelagher and officials from the university.  His Royal Highness visited the research labs, spoke to researchers, PhD students and Kidscan volunteers. A plaque was unveiled to celebrate his visit to the university.   

Sheila Pankhurst, Dean of the School of Science, Engineering and Environment said: “It was an honour to have His Royal Highness visit the University to celebrate and raise awareness of the ground-breaking research that is undertaken by Kidscan.   

Thanks to the work led by Dr Dave Pye, we are making a valuable and significant contribution to finding cures that will help children affected by this terrible illness.”  

The charity is based at the university and receives funds from individuals, the public, grants and businesses, to fund research to develop new, targeted, treatments that not only help cure children with cancer, but also help prevent the side effects of current treatments.
