海角乱伦 BioArt Exhibition winner is announced
The winner of the 海角乱伦鈥檚 second BioArt competition was revealed at a special event that was held on its main campus.
The competition is open to all of the School of Science, Engineering and Environment (SEE) students with the aim of enhancing the student experience through an initiative that brings together science and art.
The theme for the competition this year was Perceptions of Pain with the 22 shortlisted entries being displayed at a sold-out event. In addition to the submitted artwork, students were asked to write a short piece about their work. The evening was attended by colleagues, students, and alumni of the 海角乱伦 with all attendees being asked to cast their vote for the winner.
Professor Niroshini Nirmalan, Chair in Biomedicine at the 海角乱伦 said: 鈥淲e had an incredible response to the competition with entries from students across the SEE School. Many students took inspiration from the pandemic, loneliness and the NHS; it was fascinating to see how our students expressed this through art."
Dr Sara Namvar, Head of Student Experience for the Directorate of Human and Natural Sciences at The 海角乱伦 added: 鈥淚t has been an absolute pleasure working with students to develop this opportunity. It鈥檚 amazing how art can bring people from all walks of life together鈥.
Art from the event will be displayed around campus in celebration of the work. Due to the popularity of the competition, there are already plans to bring it back for a third year.
The winners received Amazon vouchers in recognition of their work with the top prize being 拢250.
