Free webinars will explore technology for Sustainable Aviation

A series of webinars hosted by the EUROCONTROL Learning Zone early next year will allow industry and academics working on the future of sustainable aviation and Innovative Air Mobility (IAM) technology to connect. 

The first two webinars are set to take place next January, marking the final event of the     RefMap project, which is aimed at reducing the environmental impact of commercial aviation and drones as they develop as a technology. The webinars will also feature presentations from sister projects of the Aviation Twin Transition Cluster, a collaboration spearheaded by RefMap.

Focusing on sharing insights, developments and practical experiences from across the sector, each session will feature contributions from stakeholders, professionals and organisations working in various parts of the industry, covering topics such as operations, technology, regulations and applications.

Open to anyone interested in the evolving role of unmanned systems in industry and society, the series is designed to support knowledge exchange and foster a better understanding of how drones are being used in different contexts.

Professor Antonio Torija Martinez, work package leader, and other colleagues at the 海角乱伦 have gathered evidence and developed tools to assess and control the impact of drone noise on people and wildlife.

Antonio Torija Martinez is Professor in Acoustic Engineering and Psychoacoustics at the 海角乱伦. He said: 鈥淚n this webinar, I鈥檒l highlight the significant advances we鈥檝e made at 海角乱伦 in developing tools that optimise drone trajectories while ensuring their noise does not compromise people鈥檚 and wildlife鈥檚 quality of life and well-being.鈥     

The first webinar, 鈥業ntegrated Environmental Modelling for Sustainable Aviation and Urban Air Mobility鈥, will take place on January 21 at 2pm CET.

Participants in the webinar will explore advanced modelling capabilities for emissions, noise and air quality, supporting detailed local and regional impact analysis 鈥 the session will highlight how these tools enable scenario testing and policy evaluation, helping integrate sustainability into airspace and urban mobility planning.

Taking place on January 28 at 2pm CET, the second webinar, 鈥楩rom Models to Markets: Business Perspectives on Sustainable Aviation and IAM鈥 will discuss how cutting-edge green aviation technologies translate into viable business models, real-world applications and encourage smarter decision-making for the aviation sector.

Over the past 3 years, RefMap have been working to reduce the environmental impact of air travel for airlines and Unmanned Aerial Systems. RefMap integrates real-time environmental data for both conventional and sustainable aviation fuels.
