The author, who is most known for her novel ‘The Furies’ is coming to speak with MA English students about Professional Practice on February 9, where she will offer advice, take questions from students, and read from her second novel, ‘The Murder of Graham Catton’. 

Katie said: "I’m delighted to be visiting the �������� English department once again - it’s always a thrill to talk to such dedicated and insightful students. I’ll be discussing the development of my new book, The Murder of Graham Catton - a psychological thriller published in the UK in June - and sharing tips on how to write, while also managing a demanding career outside of writing. I’ll also be talking about how to look after your mental health as you do both, based on my own experience." 

Caroline Magennis, Reader in English at the university said: “Katie's visit was a massive success last year, and we are so excited that she's come back to speak with our students.  

It's a tough time for anyone pursuing a career in the creative arts, so I couldn't ask for a better model of flexibility, graft and resilience to inspire our students in 2021!” 

In addition to Katie’s visit, the university is being visited by Hilary Copeland from the Irish Writers' Centre, who has worked in arts management for over ten years. She will discuss effective grant applications and building a freelance career in the arts on March 3 of this year.
