Improving your Library
We've listened to user feedback, and the Library has made some changes over Summer 2026. Your new creative space, improved wayfinding, and extended leisure reading section is here.
We've listened to your requests
We asked how we could improve the Library space and you told us your ideas - here are the results:
- More study space
- Better wayfinding
- A new flexible creative area for group or solo work
- An expansion to the leisure reading section
- Improved extended laptop loans
New and Improved Extended Loan Laptops
We have listened to your feedback regarding our extended loan laptop service. We wanted to ensure our services meet a high standard for our students, so whilst our extended loan laptops have served us well it was time for a refresh!
We've been removing older devices to introduce newer, quicker, and smaller laptops. Thank you to everyone who has used this service and helped us to improve it for the future.

Student-led design
Students have played a central role in shaping the changes. They've contributed to:
- The design of new branding and wayfinding
- Decisions about how the creative space will be used
- The layout and functionality of redesigned areas
The aim was to ensure the updated library reflects user needs and feedback. More information to come on how the students have inputted on this soon.
Can I book the creative space?
Yes - If your society or group is interested in booking this space for your event, please get in touch with us by filling in the Library Usage Request form and selecting 'event'. Once doing this, we will get in touch with you and let you know if your request can be met.
