Student Progression Advisers (SPAs)

talking

Our dedicated Student Progression Advisers (SPAs) are here to support your academic progression and engagement; while also helping you access the wellbeing support you may need. Whether you're unsure where to turn or need specific guidance, SPAs are there to help you navigate your journey at university.

  • If you feel seriously at risk or are at immediate threat, we recommend contacting the police by calling 999.
  • If you are concerned about the immediate wellbeing and welfare for either yourself or a fellow student, we recommend visiting Urgent Support.
  • If you would like more information about our counselling and wellbeing services or to speak to our counselling team, we recommend visiting Wellbeing and Counselling.

How SPAs can support you

SPAs work closely with academic staff and university support services to create a welcoming and inclusive environment. The goal is to provide you with practical and personalised support so you can stay on track and make the most of your time at º£½ÇÂÒÂ×.

SPAs offer all different types of support, you can book an appointment with your SPAs for help with topics including:

  • Academic Support: To help ensure you get the support you need to succeed.
  • Monitoring Attendance and Engagement: To offer early support if needed, and ensure you are attending university.
  • Tailored Advice: To help with academic challenges, wellbeing, or life events.
  • Wellbeing Support: SPAs are there if you need someone to talk to, and can help with referrals to university support services.
